I suppose the fundamentals of ship craft still hold true even with large advancements in technology. Preparing the ship for movement, porting, anything must take resources and time. Though it is strange they wouldn't halt the work with a ship they know may be malfunctioning.

It should be extended until they can figure out what is happening to the ship, but if the company has a strict timetable, especially as a courier, then...
This can hardly be the company's only ship, can it? If they're so well-known across the universe, then they ought to be able to have another they can call in to keep to the schedule!
We should be able to focus on getting to the bottom of what's going on here, not stuck delivering things.
