[Don't just smile. There is nothing to smile about. His expression is an immediate attempt to be humble and dismissive.]
It is... just something I like to do. Create things. Machines are... much easier to work with than people.
The Hexgates helped Piltover, but... I don't know if... it can necessarily get rid of the rot that's always been at the core. The prejudice, I mean. Between Piltover and Zaun, the city halfway below it.
They are a part of the same area, but Zaun... has wanted its own independence for a long time. If you aren't wealthy, or important politically, then you'll more than likely end up in Zaun.
Your world, too, hm? [That's rough, buddy.] I had wanted to change it.
I wanted to build things to help others like me, to help the people of the Undercity. But I don't think... making Hextech is going to fix the rot inside.
There was an uprising once already. When I was young. The Undercity tried to rebel to gain their own independence, but Piltover Enforcers squashed them.
A man who survived went on to unofficially lead the people of Zaun below. I think he had brokered peace somehow with the Enforcers. But then he was murdered, and Zaun became infested with drugs and violent gangs.
Is that right? Unfortunately, such things are wont to thrive when the people are deprived and subjugated. But those in the city should know that violence and disease do not obey border lines.

Dion is also amazed, but that's because he's genuinely never seen anything like this. He glances over at the Hexgate when Viktor points it out. ]
Then you must be quite knowledgeable in matters of science and engineering. [ Smiles! ] You must've done this place quite the service.

Below, you mean a neighbouring town?
[ like south? ]
no subject
Zaun is across the river, but a large majority of it sits beneath Piltover below ground.
no subject
Below ground... that is an interesting use of space. Is that the cause of the prejudice you see?

[He glances off.]

... It is disheartening to hear, how much is the same regardless of technology, innovation or magic.

He glances back to Dion, brows rising.]

It is not something for one man to fix alone; I am certain your efforts were not in vain.
But... it is indeed difficult to cure something so pervasive peacefully.
no subject
Yes, things were beginning to grow very unpeaceful as of late.
[DON'T THEY ALL.]
Zaun's discontent was starting to spill up into Piltover.
no subject
[ huh
he's giving off guilty vibes now ]
Things must either change, or they will be made anew eventually, I expect.
