[HOW ARE YOU GONNA BE LIKE YUCKY THEN TURN AROUND AND DO A SPIN AND JUST SAY FLESH HUNT?!?!?!?!? This is why I can't RP with Aki. DON'T JUST SAY THAT LIKE IT'S NOTHING.
Viktor's face is very much exasperatedly concerned.]
Eunhyuk and I found a data log in the holodeck. It shows two people with a bunch of plants. All kinds, I think. They're being grow in cylinders. Hydro...ponics is what they called it.
[scien just ignores dahut because he's so absurdly used to this. instead he finally looks away from this machine that i still haven't decided what he's building and make a gesture at viktor]
Something is learning. Like the Hex Core. It's evolving.
[Imagine he just crumples down onto the floor from the bump. No, he just wobbles like a top-heavy tulip in a spring breeze, so close to snapping in half.
He's reluctant at first, but then finally wanders toward Scien, figuring Dahut will obviously follow. Pulls an Aki and waves my magic hands to say he has a way of showing them the video log they found in the holodeck.]
[scien watches over the video and points out Hans - ]
That's not Amalthea's master. Amalthea's master is a young woman with pale hair and red eyes. Though I suppose it sounds as if she's simply used the wrong terminology. But it's just like that woman to start suggesting curses and the supernatural.
This is Hans Falcin, Hydroponics Specialist and Communications Officer. Doesn't believe in curses, but was developing the different plants for two projects: first, an improved anesthetic, and second, to develop a hallucinogen that can bridge understanding between two individuals by creating one truly shared experience that doesn't rely on testimony.
Hans Falcin died from a cross-breed developed that turned out to be poisonous. It may align with certain statements made about 'accidents' and 'curses'.
[Hmmmmm. He watches the video with them for the hundredth time, listening to Scien explain. His expression gets increasingly more pensive the more Scien talks. Why... HE CAN'T EVEN CRITICIZE THIS AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!! HE HAS DONE SIMILAR STUPID SHIT!!!!!!! Frustrating.
Listen. He has at least briefly learned. Will that stop him going forward? Maybe not.]
Would... anyone have known about this? Does that mean... the cross-breed continued to populate in the hydroponic capsules? What does... this incident have to do with the rest of what's going on, is my question.
[Thinking.]
There is so much... wrong that can be done with both the original plants and the cross-breed. An anesthetic and a hallucinogen? A poison?
The current Senior Crew would have known, but their memories have clearly been altered. Amalthea is at least slightly aware of this, and they had a meeting about it during the beginning of the week after they all experienced the headaches Eunhyuk mentioned.
[but scien waves a hand]
Until we find the plants in question, we don't need to jump to conclusions. Flowers are relevant in a few situations, but none of them are lotuses or lycorises like we've seen.
The poison afflicted Hans through a flower's thorn. The symptoms of the poison were at first mild, like a cold, and then death overnight. It may be relevant to the Busybody and his sudden demise but even then the symptoms don't align. It likely is not relevant to those who are losing control of their violent urges on Thursdays.
More than anything, it might just be a little glimpse into the history this ship carries, don't you think? A little record of death. Storms, accidents... If the pattern holds, then we'll probably get a little peek into more deaths next week, and maybe another visit!
[From these... weird light figures that he sweatily thinks they might join someday if they don't bust their way out of the belly.]
[Also sweatily thinking they are gonna be these fucking ghosts if they don't do something quickly.
His brows furrow, and he ponders while listening.]
When I told Gavin Cleves, the former Combat Officer, about being in the belly of the ship, he said the orlop is where supplies were kept, and the junior crew oversaw it.
[He glances up, then looks away, specifically away from Scien.]
The... Hex Core. My blood... accidentally got mixed into it. That's how I realized it could learn, change. It became... more organic. It reminds me of... these plants and the flesh.
[viktor is so funny because now that he's not watching the video, scien is just going back to working on his project. he is so unconcerned with viktor and his feelings.]
I'm not interested in wild theories that are based only off of personal experience. If you see the plants from the video, or anything resembling them, that's one thing. If you see your Hex Core, that's another.
Until then, results and investigation will yield more answers than conjecture.
I don't believe in curses, but you would be surprised what unseen can exist in the air and space that invite tragedy. There is most likely an explanation, it simply needs to be found.
[HE REALLY SAID HE'S GOTTA SEPARATE THESE RACCOONS BEFORE THEY START RABBITBEEFING AND SCIEN JUST KICKS VIKTOR INTO DUST.]
Okaaay! [Said to Scien with a little salute and then HE'S JUST STARTING TO WALK OFF WITH VIKTOR LET'S GO TWINK.] We'll be back soon! Let's go find some good ones, Monsieur Viktor!
[Like they're going on an Easter egg hunt.........]
[EXCEPT any sample that they try to cut does the same thing as the wall and any trace of nasty blood and pus disintegrates, along with the sample in the towel, so that's fun.
EVENTUALLY DRAGS VIKTOR BACK. He's wilty again...]
[HELP. scien glances over to them before tilting his head. rip.]
Did the wall repair itself?
Have you considered developing a sensor with a camera built inside, gouging out a hole in the flesh wall, and then embedding it so that it can still take in the data after the repair? If we cannot remove it to be brought to us, we can instead bring the instrument to the sample.
[IMAGINE THE NEW DEAD SHOWS UP AND THERE'S JUST FUCKING WEIRD SCIENCE SHIT BUILT INTO THE FLESH WALL.]
We could try! I have a feeling that the wall will reject anything foreign, but that's a good hypothesis to test, anyway. Ah, speaking of building - Monsieur Luke suggested that we build a set of cameras to set up as monitors in our rooms here, so we can see if anything strange happens when we aren't around to see it.
[OF COURSE HE HAD. I HATE THESE DUMBASS SCIENTISTS.]
Even if it rejects or assimilates the mechanisms, it could be something to rule out. Honestly, I considered just trying to force myself in, to see what it does, or to see where it leads.
[Sorry, he is also INSANE. He glances at Dahut. He doesn't know what security footage is.]
[WHY DOES DAHUT JUST AGREE WITH THE UNHINGED SKIN RACK TESTTTTTT???? CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE TO GO TO THE MODS AFTER THIS TO ASK WHAT HAPPENS WHEN HE TRIES TO SHOVE HIMSELF INSIDE LIKE HE IS IN THE AMIGARA FAULT.]
It's Viktor.
[He says this with a total understanding it doesn't matter, he won't ever be Viktor to Scien.]

Dahut will hop over to Viktor's side, doing another little heel spin and bumping into his side.]
Maybe you're on the right track that something weird is growing! Or that someone's growing something weird?

[though scien sounds so very clearly doubtful]

He'll watch all of this play out on the screen though, and listen to Scien's very important additions. ALL HE HAS TO ADD IS:]
Stellar ghost ship... Wow! We're star ghosts!

Well! We can't do much outside of speculating for now, so how about we go on that flesh hunt?
[STOP CALLING IT A FLESH HUNT.]

It's fine. He is not angry or insulted (he's gotten some of the worse already, so nowhere to go but up), but his brows DO furrow.]
I never believed in curses either until I kept getting hit by them.
[Fine, fine. He moves with Dahut.]
...Alright.

[scien, internally: people thought viktor was miserable enough it’d be funny to make him dance like a little jester
he is too distracted with his work to share that thought.]
So then, so must all this. Go get started.
We can perform tests on the samples afterward.

Go get me more parts for the cameras then. I'll get the Busybody to make the other half.
If the Heart Thief wants to become one with the Flesh Wall, I'm not stopping him. Just have someone monitor the results when you do.
no subject
Got it, got it! [Not their fucking cameras. They're making this graveyard weirder and worse. Truly hope we get Ichiban next to even the playing field.
GLANCING OVER TO FLESH WALL MCGEE THOUGH WHY IS EVERYONE IN THIS BAR INSANE.]
I can monitor, monsieur! I think that would be an interesting test to run.

It's Viktor.
