[NOT THE NERDS GOING BACK TO THEIR SILENT WORK NOOOOOOO.
Naturally, Viktor is in one of the labs. OF COURSE HE IS. STUPID NERDS. The end of the trial has not only pumped him full of renewed ambition somehow, but also full of antsy energy, so he's inside working on something.
And the something is a pair of metal legs and a waist standing on the floor, both big enough to make whatever the hell he plans to build probably about nine feet. Nearby is a plate of food and some water--apparently Dahut has already made some rounds.
He pauses to glance up with Luke's grumpy entrance.]
Sounds like you spend more time in your head than I do in mine.
[And he spends all his time in his head really.]
It's a golem, yes. An automaton. I had been fiddling with the start of blueprints back home. He won't be anything here but a rough prototype really. Not with these materials.
He wipes his hands a bit on a scrap of a rag. Glancing up at the leg pieces.]
Something that can reach the most toxic levels of the Undercity in order to help clean it up. Back home anyway. I was going to see what would happen if he was powered by a hex crystal. It could make him more efficient.
We have stuff like that in my world too. It's not perfect, though. I know a lot of scientists are still working on similar things. [Ways to improve safety, to have better control. He smiles, taking a seat on the edge of a separate desk.] Is that your area of expertise? Environmental?
[Bold of Mr. 1600 jobs to ask about areas of expertise]
[NO!!! I DON'T WANT TO SUFFER INTELLIGENCE I JUST WANTED TO TB EXPLODE KICKS THE REST OF YOU NERDS OUT OF THE GRAVEYARD]
That makes sense. [Luke was fortunate enough to live in a decent neighborhood, but he frequents North Stellis often enough, and he's seen The Horrors in other ways. He gets it. He looks over the automaton bits, thoughtful.] Hextech... is it expensive? Like, would it be hard to make a lot of these?
[Since he's guessing something called the Undercity is probably poor...]
[WOULD THESE PEOPLE STOP SEEING THE HORRORS? BEGGING.
Viktor fiddles with a tool idly while thinking.]
Well, it would be difficult to acquire the crystals perhaps, so yes. Legally. Fortunately, as one of the founders of Hextech, and as someone who resides in Piltover now, I don't have the same... lack of resources in getting them others would?
They are extremely regulated since... the arcane has always been frowned upon because of its volatile power.
I guess that makes sense. [That it's regulated, he means.] Powerful people tend to get their hands on dangerous things one way or another, but an effort has to be made nonetheless.
[To keep dangerous things guarded and keep people safe...]
Do you plan to build them all yourself? [Automaton army of Baymaxes]

Are you alright...?

Anyway this is much more interesting than focusing on his woes, so he waves a hand, wandering in.]
Yeah. Just a little distracted. [The impending doom of their murderhands roommates...] What are you working on?
no subject
STOP, not the distraction. He is frowning a bit as Luke wanders over.] The trial? [Look. Don't dodge around it.]
It's... something I was scribbling blueprints of back home. A side project. I decided to see if I could build a prototype with the scrap here.
no subject
Mm. Anomalies. [Ashe not being here, there being two killers... but he CAN AND WILL DODGE talk to him nerd to nerd!!!]
Looks like the start of a robot. [Viktor is this like. A small Gundam.]

This surprisingly makes him laugh quietly.]
I'm just an inventor. My expertise outside of building would be Hextech, I guess. Arcane technology. But... I was born in Zaun, the Undercity.
So... I have an interest in wanting to help its people.
